As the afternoon progresses Kiva still sips her tea softly, Xander rises from the large red chair he’s been sitting on and goes to the mess hall to retrieve some lunch for both him and her.
Once there he gets her the soup they were serving for the day, a simple mixture of vegetables grown in the barracks own garden.
And he got some roasted beef and potatoes for himself; he did get a larger piece just in case Kiva felt well enough to eat something a bit more solid.
When Xander returns to Kiva’s quarters he notices that she is struggling with a book, she turned it sides ways a moment then with some frustration she put it down on her bed in a slight huff crossing her arms.
“Is something wrong Kiva?” he asked.
“This blasted cold is making it hard for me to focus on reading the city's history book I borrowed from the library,” she replied upset.
Xander softly smiled and pulls the red chair closer to Kiva’s bed side and sat down on it, then he gently gave Kiva the bowl of soup.
As she looked down it, she sighed because her stuffy nose wouldn’t allow her to smell her food, Xander offered a slice of his roasted beef to her, but Kiva politely refused and said the soup would be enough.
After eating Xander picked up the history book and began reading it to Kiva where she had marked off a soft fold on a page.
He read it for hours until the dinner bells started ringing, when he looked down at Kiva, she was fast asleep, he wondered how long until she felt well enough to train again.
Before leaving the room, Xander placed the book on the arm of the chair with its spine down and open so he could read more to Kiva when he returned, and he draped a light blanket over the back of the chair so he could cover himself while he slept in the comfortable large red chair to stay with Kiva over night as he has been doing the last few nights.
He lights a couple of candles on the mantle near a clock; the flames softly flicker off its face. When leaving the room, he made sure to quietly close the door behind him and heads off to the mess hall again to gather something for dinner.
